The Huawei Ascend P1 S is now the world’s slimmest smartphone Huawei Ascend P1 SHuawei has unveiled the Ascend P1 S, a smartphone that probably won’t get as much hype as an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, or Motorola Droid, but it’s certainly famous for something. It just took away the “world’s slimmest smartphone” title from Motorola’s Droid Razr with a profile that measures only 6.68mm thick. By comparison, the Droid Razr measures 7.1mm, while the Fujitsu Arrows ES IS12F – an earlier Razr-beater introduced in Japan – measures only 6.7mm thick.

The Ascend P1 S runs on a dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor running on 1.5GHz, which is the same brain running the show on the Nexus Prime. Like the Nexus Prime, the Ascend will also arrive running on Android 4.0.

The rest of the spec includes a spacious 4.3-inch, 540 x 960 Super AMOLED display, with graphics powered by an SGX 540 graphics chip. The phone also sports an 8-megapixel camera that’s capable of recording 1080p HD video, and a 1.3MP webcam that can handle 720p video. Power comes by way of a relatively large 1800mAh battery, which is impressive in itself just because of the tight space they managed to fit it into.

Huawei will also be introducing another phone, the Ascend P1, which basically packs the same spec, but not as slim with a 7.69 inch thick body.

Both phones will be available in black, white and pink colors, and is set to ship to Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, Australia, the Middle East and China in Q2 2012.
