Here’s an interesting report about the iPad 3 expected next year: according to Asian suppliers, the iPad 3 will be thicker than the iPad 2. If true, it would be a step back considering the awesome design they came up with for the 0.34-inch thick iPad 2, which is definitely rare knowing how much Apple values beautiful design. But that’s what the sources tipped off to Macotakara: it’s going to be thicker – or at least enough to render existing rear or wrap-around iPad 2 cases useless. On the bright side, existing Smart Covers will still fit on the reportedly thicker iPad 3.
According to earlier rumors, the iPad 3 will come rocking a radically updated spec that includes a quad-core processor, a 2048 x 1536 display and possible support for LTE networks. If true, then Apple might not have a choice regarding the upcoming iPad’s thickness.
