Nokia and T-Mobile has sent out invitations for an event on December 14 in New York City. The invite didn’t mention exactly what they plan to launch next week save for a line that says that they’ve got “something exciting in the works”, but the invite’s layout might be a clue. Those squares on the invite might be a reference to the Windows Phone OS tile interface, which could only mean one thing: T-Mobile will be launching the Lumia 710 in the US.
Why the Lumia 710 and not the more advanced Lumia 800? The Lumia 710 has been spotted going through the FCC with T-Mobile’s 3G bands, which makes it a likely candidate for next week. Other rumors point to the Lumia 800 (with LTE) heading for AT&T next year.
The Nokia Lumia 710 features the same 1.4GHz Snapdragon and 3.7-inch screen as the Lumia 800, but it cuts back on a few features to make for a lower-priced phone. The Lumia 710 will feature an LCD screen and a 5MP cam instead of the AMOLED screen and 8MP snapper on the premium Lumia 800.
