Just a quick update regarding the PadFone device that Asus previewed at Computex back in May: According to a source (as told to Engadget), the Asus PadFone will be powered by NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 CPU (and not a by a Qualcomm S4 chip as previously expected), and will be officially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress Show in February.
As a refresher, the PadFone is a hybrid device that centers around a 4.3-inch smartphone. The smartphone then docks into the back of a 10.1-inch tablet shell with a larger battery, with the phone serving as the brains behind the larger screen. The rest of the details are unknown, but it’s likely to arrive running on Android 4.0 to make it easier to switch between phone and tablet use.
