It’s really no surprise that Rovio is heavily capitalizing on the success of the gold mine that is Angry Birds. From its initial release as the mobile game to download for mobile phones back in 2009, it’s grown to be one massively popular franchise, releasing seasonal iterations and have crossed over to the desktop.

As all thriving brands are wont to do, the company expanded to creating merchandise for their legions of fans. And quite recently, Rovio has taken the franchise for a gastronomic trek with the release of their cook book titled Bad Piggies’ Egg Recipes. Remotely tech post after the jump.

Yeah. A little too much Angry Birds merch.

Along the way, Angry Birds has spawned a plethora of off-game merchandise—from plushies, keychains and phone cases, to board games, flip flops, bags and lunch boxes. You also have the countless unofficial (read: el cheapo) items manufactured by third party companies.

Bad Piggies’ Egg Recipes carries a chockfull of egg recipes that range from your simple breakfast fare, and appetizers, to savory main course entrees, and desserts. And it looks like the recipes actually do taste good, as we can gather from its recent UK launch where Rovio brought celebrity chef Aldo Zilli aboard to cook the recipes for them.

With eggs as the main theme, many may expect this to be an assemblage of easy dishes even the younglings can quickly whip up, but as its recipe list reveals, the cookbook caters to different skills levels and even includes some rather challenging kitchen-slavery items like pouched eggs, soufflés, burritos, and quiche.

Sure, it may seem like Rovio milking the franchise’s popularity, but the content is compelling enough for foodies-in-training, and can be a great tool for parents to bond with their kids.

Each of the recipes in this 96-page hardbound cookbook is accompanied by really colorful graphics in keeping with the whole Angry Birds theme. We all knew anyway that those green, villainous swines were eating our protagonists’ unborn offspring, but having the recipes propped in front of you sorta makes it a tad bit disturbing. Just saying. At least it highlights an aspect of the game’s antagonists, making this canon—something that easily puts us (of the geek/nerd/dork persuasion) at ease.
