For something that’s basically a static chunk of billet aluminum with no built-in electronic bells and whistles, this is pretty interesting. Called the Wedge, ColorWare’s accessory is basically an iPad stand and nothing else. What makes it so interesting? Unlike a number of available fixed stands, the Wedge offers four different lean angles (40, 60, 70, 80 degrees) for your iPad – or any other tablet, really – thanks to the four different slots cut all around the base.
That’s pretty much it. It’s like a cool-looking (albeit really shallow) ashtray, made from billet aluminum to make the stand “virtually indestructible.” Each slot is lined with Ultrasuede Soft fabric to protect your device, while the bottom has non-slip rubber soles for grip.
The Wedge costs $200 – unfortunate for something that looks so simple. But Colorware offers a number of customization options that’ll let you tweak the look with different colors and materials for the different slots and surfaces.
