A “reliable source” has given iLounge some details about Apple’s next products, basically outlining the possible changes or improvements on the third-gen iPad, the next-gen iPhone (the iPhone 5 mayhaps?), and the 2012 MacBook Pro.
According to the source, the iPad 3 will be thicker (with a 0.7mm frame) to accommodate a twin light bar system to light up the higher-resolution screen. The screen size has been rumored to stay at 9.7 inches, but could get an upgraded 2048 x 1536 resolution. If true, the added density would need extra LED lighting to keep the screen lit up. The source also mentioned that the iPad 3 is on track for a March release, and could be unveiled as early as January.
The next-gen iPhone will also get a significant spec bump that’s highlighted by a larger 4-inch display. The source said that the next-gen iPhone will not have the rumored teardrop-shape, but it will feature a metal casing and will be 8mm longer than the current model to fit the larger screen. It’s also expected to be ready by summer 2012, with support for LTE networks.
The 2012 MacBook Pro will be getting a new design. Specific details weren’t given out, only that it would be “thinner.”
