Take your Tab for a ride: Samsung unveils a bicycle with a tablet holder 14 bike co Samsung galaxy tab 1

We’ve seen a lot of weird gadgety ideas through the years, but most of them were either released by third-party accessory-manufacturers or DIY enthusiasts. But this one? It’s official. Samsung has teamed up with bicycle builder 14 Bike Co for… this. We have no idea what it’s officially called (the Galaxy Bike?), but the photo pretty much says it all. It’s a bike. With a built-in holder for the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Now, we have no idea what made them come up with this (or why, for that matter), but Samsung says that it’s designed to be “used easily whilst on the move.” Again, we have no idea how that’s even safe – if we had to use a tablet while riding a bike, it seems like the handlebars would be a more natural position, but hey, it’s their call.

Anyway, back to the bike. The bike itself is pretty solid – if not simple, the way bicycles should be. It’s made from a steel frame with a two-tone paintjob, while the holder’s built using carbon fiber. Also: two wheels, foot pedals, handlebars and brakes… you know the drill. It’s a freakin’ bicycle.

Here’s the interesting part: it’s not just a concept model or PR gimmick. They’re actually going to be putting this one on sale. We have no idea exactly how many bikers rock a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or if said bikers are willing to trade their existing bikes for this tablet-friendly model, but if that description sounds familiar, then awesome for you.

Samsung didn’t mention prices or availability, but if you’re a biker who already owns a bike, we’re sure a backpack is cheaper for lugging around your tablet.  It’s also generally safer unless you live in a safe neighborhood.
