Huawei has revealed their launch plans for the MediaPad tablet that they first pimped out back in June: it’s set to debut in October. It’s a little bit late for the Q3 launch window or the “fall US launch” that was also announced, but if you live in Malaysia or Singapore, you’re due to get first dibs on this Android tablet in a month.
They didn’t mention specific launch dates, only that it’s due out by mid-October in Malaysia and is landing in the US, China, Hong Kong and Thailand “before the year ends”. They did reveal prices though, at least for the region. It’s currently up for pre-orders in Singapore for $598 SGD, or around US$473.
The MediaPad is an Android 3.2-based tablet that’s built around a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor and a 7-inch, 1280 x 800 touchscreen. The tablet also rocks a five-megapixel camera at the back, a 1.3-megapixel camera up front, and is capable of 1080p playback over HDMI. The MediaPad will only be available with HSPA 3G and Wi-fi, with no Wi-fi only option.
