Ever heard of Hammacher Schlemmer? Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t. But if you appreciate really unique stuff, like, say, “The External Combustion Kraftwagen,” then you’re going to want to check out their website (we actually don’t know what we’re going to do with the Kraftwagen, but we want it). Anyway, they have a new product that’s going to make you remember the name. If you like cameras… or at least really tiny, Lilliputian ones.
What you’re looking at is what the company claims to be the world’s smallest digital camera. Simply labeled as “The World’s Smallest Camera,” this little thing packs a 2-megapixel image sensor into a frame that measures slightly over an inch all around, and is capable of taking stills with a 1600 x 1200 resolution, or 640 x 480 videos at 30fps. It obviously doesn’t have any space for a display for framing shots or previewing captured content, but it has a microSD card slot (it comes with a 2GB card) and a USB 2.0 port for transferring and viewing what you have to a PC.
The camera captures JPEG images and AVI videos, works with Windows PCs, and comes with an integrated rechargeable battery that’s listed to last up to 30 minutes after a 1-hour charge. Yeah, 30 minutes and 2MP doesn’t really sound appealing, but hey, it’s really tiny. And it only goes for $99.
