Instagram, the free artsy photo app for the iPhone just got more than a little bit more awesome, thanks to an update that adds a number of requested features. Also, it’s still free on the App Store. Again, awesome.
Here’s a quick rundown of what the update includes: Instagram 2.0 is now built with a more powerful imaging engine that allows for higher-resolution shots. Previously limited to 612 x 612 photos, the updated app now supports max resolutions of 1536 x 1536 on the iPhone 3GS and ten times larger on the iPhone 4, topping out at 1936 x 1936.
The update also adds a new “live filters” feature, letting you preview the final effect before tapping on the shutter. The app also adds more post-shot editing features for faster tilt-shift editing, four new filters (Amaro, Hudson, Rise, and Valencia), and an option to remove borders from the images.
