Thanks to a number of previous leaks that revealed the HTC Runnymede’s full specs and official press photo, we already know about the premium phone inside and out before the official announcement. And while it hasn’t been confirmed, we’ve also assumed that HTC’s upcoming flagship phone won’t be called ‘Runnymede’ on launch day. Well the phone’s likely name just popped up, after a page on their site labeled it as the HTC Bass on a UK retailer’s website.
Of course, it’s still unconfirmed. For all we know, the website’s referring to another upcoming phone that no one knows about… a phone that looks exactly like the Runnymede, with a spec that matches the details on the Runnymede’s leaked spec sheet (the HTC Bass is listed to feature a 1.5GHz processor, 4.7-inch screen, 8MP camera, Beats Audio and Android 2.3.4). Or maybe they just made a mistake. But from what we’ve seen so far, ‘HTC Bass’ seems like a very likely name.
Handtec, the UK retailer who listed the phone has taken the page down, replacing it with a blank HTC (TBC) page under the HTC Bass URL. The original page didn’t list pricing and availability, but Handtec’s blog (also taken down) mentioned that they’re waiting for HTC to announce the smartphone in early October.
