Sony Ericsson has unveiled the newest member of their Xperia family of smartphones. Called the Xperia neo V, the phone is a compact all-touch phone that rocks a 3.7-inch (480 x 854) touchscreen that features the company’s Reality Display with Mobile Bravo Engine, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and a 5MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash.
It’s a comparatively average spec, but the phone packs a camera that’s capable of quite a few tricks. Apart from 720p video recording, the built-in cam also features red-eye reduction, a video stabilizer, face and smile detection, a 16x digital zoom, geotagging, and a 3D Sweep Panorama mode.
The phone will also come with a small amount of integrated storage (320MB), but ship with a 2GB microSD card. The spec list is rounded out by Wi-fi, stereo Bluetooth, GPS and an FM radio. The phone will ship with Android 2.3.4.
Alongside the new phone, Sony Ericsson also announced that all their 2011 Xperia smartphones (including the Xperia Arc, Xperia PLAY and Xperia neo) will be updated to Android 2.3.4. The update gives the line a number of Google’s latest goodies, including video chat support for Google Talk, Facebook integration with “Facebook inside Xperia”, swipe text input, and support for the Sony Ericsson LiveDock. It also adds a 3D camera function that gives users the ability to shoot 3D images.
