Asus puts up a page for the Eee Pad Slider, specs and details are out Asus eee pad slider 2Asus has already unveiled the Eee Pad Slider back in January at CES, so we already know what it’s all about. If you haven’t heard of it yet, one look at the photo above should already give you an idea: basically, it’s an Android tablet that comes with a slide-and-tilt mechanism, revealing a built-in keyboard. It took them most of the year getting this ready for launch, but while we have no idea exactly when launch day’s going to come, Asus has put up the Slider’s official page so at least we can check out what’s coming.

The core system hasn’t been changed since we first saw the Slider back in January. Similar to the Transformer, the Slider runs on a Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM and Android OS (it ships with 3.1, but should be upgraded to 3.2 after). It also comes with the same 16GB or 32GB versions, 10-inch screen, and 5MP main/1.2MP front cameras.

As was previously shown, the Slider is basically a Transformer in a different form factor. While the Transformer features a removable keyboard, this slate packs with its own. Unfortunately, because of the built-in keyboard panel, the Slider’s a little bit bulkier. It still measures under an inch though (it’s listed at 0.68 inches thick and weighs 2.12 pounds), so it’s still a good option for people who want a more notebook-like experience (…who for some reason didn’t just buy a notebook).

The Slider could be out by September, expected to start at $400 for the 16GB version.
