Interested in limited edition tech? Here’s something rare: Mojang, the company behind the hit PC game Minecraft, just put up a Minecraft-themed Sony Xperia Play on eBay. Apparently, they realized that they had something good going on after seeing a lot of their Minecraft-themed swag pop up on the auction site, so they’re offering this one up themselves this time.
We’re not exactly sure how rare this themed phone is, since it looks like they’re going to be giving out similar Minecraft Xperia Play phones to winners at Gamescom. But if you’re a fan of the game and you don’t think you can make it to the event in Germany, then here’s your chance to pick up a unique-looking phone.
Underneath the block-designed wrap, it’s still a regular Xperia Play (it’s the international version so it’s going to work anywhere as long as “where” is a country with a GSM network). We’re guessing you get a matching wallpaper or UI theme for this one, but that’s about it as far as Minecraft goes. Ironically, you can’t play the game on this phone.
The auctioned phone is currently priced at $1,350 after 53 bids, but you still have time to join the fray if you’re jonesing for this one. The auction ends on August 21st.
