A new rumor just narrowed the iPhone 5’s release date down to the second week of September. According to China Times’ sources, suppliers will initially be doing a 400,000-unit test run to make sure production goes smoothly before launch day.
The mid-September iPhone launch certainly sounds plausible, but here’s another interesting tip: the newspaper also said that the iPad 3 is still on track for a Thanksgiving release. There have been a lot of rumors that mention a second iPad release in 2011, but until we see an iPad 3 case leak or other more solid signs that point to another iPad version for late-2011, we’re going to take these reports with a grain of salt. Steve Jobs did say that “2011 is the year of the iPad 2,” after all.
