iPhone users, you know what we’re talking about here. You have your phone in your pocket, maybe you’re walking, and maybe you’re in a noisy room. You hear an iPhone ringing, but you’re not sure if it’s yours, because you’re a polite phone-owner and never max out the ringer volume. Heck, if you never thought about changing your alert tones, they all sound the same, after all. Here’s a fix: PocketMode. It’s not an app, though. It’s a tweak that uses the phone’s ambient light sensor to determine if the iPhone is in a bag or pocket.
If it’s dark, meaning that it’s potentially in a phone or pocket, your phone will ring louder to make sure you hear it. And in case you’re afraid of the phone ringing loudly while you’re asleep (when it’s also likely to sense a dark environment), it also comes with a night mode that you can configure the hours to so it stays polite.
You’re going to need a jailbroken iPhone to run this tweak of course, so count this good idea as another reason why jailbreaking is a good idea. (seriously… why are you still rocking a stock iPhone anyway?)
It’s out on Cydia now, for $1.99.
