Apple is expected to launch their new MacBook Airs soon, and a new report just turned up some new info regarding the next Air’s spec. According to Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, suppliers gave out signs that Apple will be dropping the 2GB RAM and 64GB solid state drives on the base models –including the most basic 11-incher, replacing them with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space to help the new portables handle Apple’s new Mac OS X Lion operating system.
The upcoming MacBook Air is also set to handle Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge processors, with supply checks narrowing down the choices to three ultra low voltage chips: the 1.6GHz Core i5-2467M, the 1.7GHz Core i7-2637M, and the 1.8GHz Core i7-2677M.
The rest of the expected updates include the adoption of the new high-speed Thunderbolt ports, and the return of backlit keyboards, which was one feature Mac fans missed on the current MacBook Air.
