Once we learned that the Droid 3 already debuted in China as the Milestone 3, everyone pretty much knew that it wouldn’t take long before the phone hit Verizon. Well, here’s the (unofficial) confirmation: according to Droid-Life’s sources at Verizon, the Droid 3 is going to be available for direct fill upgrade orders on Thursday, July 7, while everyone else can pick it up online or in-store on July 14 with a two-year contract for $199.
If you already loved the Droid 2, premium smartphone shoppers are going to like this one… if you don’t mind a smartphone that’s limited to 3G. The “3” is Motorola’s first dual-core slider, running on an OMAP4430 processor, 512MB RAM and 4-inch, 540 x 960 qHD touchscreen display sliding over a QWERTY keypad. The phone also rocks an 8MP main cam that’s capable of 1080p recording, VGA front cam, 16GB internal storage, microSD card slot for expansion, and an HDMI out port.
