HTC’s Facebook friendly ChaCha lands on AT&T as the Status htcstatus attAT&T has officially launched the HTC Status, an Android-based smartphone that features a 2.6-inch display and full QWERTY keyboard. Besides the BlackBerry-like body, here’s what makes this phone stands out: a dedicated Facebook button at the bottom that takes the user directly to the site and enable the social network’s functions. Designed for people who just can’t stay away from posting something on the social network. Or checking on everyone else’s updates.

It’s not really a new phone though: the Status is basically the North American version of the HTC ChaCha that was launched back in February, but updated to run on Android 2.3 with HTC’s Sense UI on top. The phone rocks a 2.6-inch, 480 x 320 display and QWERTY keyboard and VGA cam up front, a 5MP camera at the back, and comes with Wi-fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity.

No word yet on AT&T’s pricing and ship dates, but it’s not a high-end phone, and will likely cost $100 or less with a contract.
