Asus has unveiled the U36, which they claim to be the world’s slimmest notebook to run on an Intel Core i5 processor. Not the usual Ultra Low voltage Core i5 usually found on the usual ultraslim, mind you. They managed to find enough space to fit a standard-voltage Core i5 in the U36’s 19mm-thick magnesium alloy frame, along with a capable battery that’s listed to last for up to 11.5 hours.
The U36 rocks a 13.3-inch, 1366 x 768 resolution display and NVIDIA graphics with Optimus tech to help with the battery life. The rest of the spec’s rounded out by Wi-fi b/g/n, a card reader, and USB 3.0 port, all packed into a notebook that tips the scales at just over three pounds. To keep the slim frame looking pretty, the notebook sports a nanometer coating that repels dirt, water and fingerprints.
It’s selling in the UK now for the equivalent of $1,120. [via SlashGear]
