The Revo RL100 has already been introduced to Asian and European markets late last year, but they’ve finally gotten around to shipping it the US. It’s basically a multimedia-geared Windows 7-based PC built into a set-top box’s body, powered by a 1.3GHz AMD Athlon II processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, while NVIDIA’s Ion graphics handle 1080p video playback via an HDMI port.
Media can be played through the 750GB hard drive, through an external source plugged in via USB, through the network via Ethernet or Wi-fi, or done the old way via the DVD drive or optional Blu-ray drive. But here’s what makes it unique: besides the obvious built-for-the-living room form factor, it also hides a detachable wireless keyboard/touchpad module that’s not only handy for navigating the interface from the couch, it also makes the whole kit look downright cool.
The rest of the RL100’s features include 5.1 channel Dolby Home Theater audio support, and Acer’s clear.fi streaming solution for hooking up with DLNA devices.
Prices start at $500, and $70 more adds a Blu-ray drive.
