Not exactly the same: white iPhone 4 is slightly thicker than the black version white iphone 4 thicker

Well, the white iPhone 4 is finally out, which should satisfy everyone who’s been aiming to get their hands on the rare color for months now. If all the hoopla made you a little curious, it’s really not that big a deal. The white iPhone 4 basically comes with the same price and same specs, but in a different color, right? Apparently not. It looks like the unique coating they added to the white panels to fix the light leaks added a little bit of meat (around 0.2mm, according to TiPb) to the original’s dimensions.

To most people, adding 0.2mm to an already-slim phone shouldn’t be an issue. And really, if you didn’t pawn off your black iPhone 4 so you could pick up a white one, you probably wouldn’t even notice it. The problem is, a few white iPhone 4 owners have reported that their new white iPhone won’t fit into some of the most popular form-fitting cases, like the Incase Slider Case.

Suffice to say, you might want to test out a new case –especially if the case relies on you sliding the phone into it – if you just bought a white iPhone 4 just to make sure it fits. TiPb has put up a short list of some of the cases they found to be “white iPhone 4-friendly” here. [via MacRumors]
