Slim Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 spotted, handled, and compared to the iPad 2

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1 (the slim version) has been spotted at a trade show late last week, where the guys from Vietnam’s Tinhte.vn tested it out. The video’s pretty clear, showing the tablet from just about every angle, and pointed out every port and slot along the edges, so it’s a pretty thorough first look. They even pulled out an iPad 2 and made a spot side-by-side comparison, just so you know what to expect when the slim Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes out in a couple of months.

Unfortunately, the guy doing the hands-on was speaking in Vietnamese, so we absolutely have no idea what he’s talking about. We did learn a few things though. First of all, hey, that Galaxy Tab’s running! It doesn’t look like the final version that’s going to ship though, since it looks like it’s running on stock Android 3.0, and not the custom UI shown during Samsung’s presentation at CTIA last month, but the screen transitions do show a quick device (it’s powered by a dual core Tegra 2).

Regarding the side-by-side face-off with the iPad 2, we’re a little bit limited, again to the fact that we don’t understand what the guy’s talking about (they did open “Angry Birds Rio” on both devices though. We just don’t have any idea exactly what it was they were testing). The profiles of both devices were also compared, probably to check if Samsung did exaggerate on the dimensions. It does look like it’s slimmer than the iPad 2 on the video, but then again, since no one pulled out a ruler, the answer to the “who’s actually slimmer?” question is still officially up in the air.
