While the details of the next-gen Wii are still very slim, they’re slowly coming in. After the recently leaked info that says the next Wii will pack a highly improved and updated spec that could possibly trump the Xbox 360 and PS3’s hardware, here’s another bit of info that should be as telling, but just as vague. According to a Game Informer source, the new console’s controller will also pack a built-in HD screen.
The source didn’t say whether the controller’s screen would be a touch screen or if the new console will still feature motion controllers. The source did say that the new Wii will be backwards-compatible with the original Wii’s games though, so motion control should be a given. Also, if the report turns out to be true, adding touch functions to a screen embedded into a motion controller sounds likely.
Publishers are said to be working on games for the new console that should be ready by launch day (that’s most likely to be sometime in 2012), so this is definitely be something to look out for when E3 rolls around in June.
