Well, it looks like there’s a good reason for Nintendo to drop the Wii’s price down to $150. If this rumor proves true, it’s because they’re preparing for a major release. And by “major,” we mean “potentially better than the Xbox 360 and PS3 in performance.” Or so says Game Informer’s sources.
Specifics on the next Wii weren’t given out, but the sources mentioned that the next Wii’s going to sport “competitive specifications,” which could at the very least mean HD support. A better spec should net the platform some of the more popular console titles like Portal 2 or Mortal Kombat, which ties in to their renewed focus on strengthening relationships with publishing partners. Also, we get better game titles that aren’t necessarily “family-friendly,” but a whole lot of fun for more hardcore gamers. [via Game Informer]
