The Acer Iconia W500 tablet is now being offered for preorders at B&H for $549. Like the uniquely designed dual-screen Iconia Touchbook, this tablet also runs Windows 7, but with a more traditional slate form factor built around a 10.1-inch screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution (the Touchbook was basically a notebook with a touchscreen instead of a mechanical keyboard).
It’s a pretty decent price overall, considering that it’s a full-on Windows-running tablet PC, and even more so because it comes bundled with a keyboard dock. The W500 runs on a 1GHz AMD C-50 (Fusion) processor, 2GB of DDR3 memory, and Radeon HD 6250 Graphics. Storage comes by way of a 32GB solid state drive, but can be added to with a pair of USB ports. Specs are rounded off by HDMI, Ethernet, Wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity, but no 3G option.
The Acer Iconia W500 tablet is listed to ship on April 15th.
