It took a long while for them to come out with it, but Samsung will finally launch the Wi-fi version of the rather old and 7-inch Galaxy Tab in the US on April 10. As one of the first tablets to challenge the original iPad last year, the Wi-fi Galaxy Tab won’t necessarily be “brand new,” but hey, at least it’s going to be cheap… or at least way cheaper than the 3G version that they seem to have stuck to until now.
The Wi-fi Galaxy Tab will cost around $350, which should be a far better deal than the 3G version that topped out at $600 when it first launched. The $350 price will net you a 16GB tablet that runs on Android 2.2. Basically, it won’t be different from the Galaxy Tabs that are already available today, but without the mobile data connection and the extra bills you’d have to pay for that mobile connection, of course.
Still a good option if you’re looking for a budget Android tablet if you don’t mind being limited to Android 2.2, but if you’re into something a bit fresher, Samsung still has the Android 3.0-running Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 lined up for the year.
