Apple’s Smart Cover accessory is a pretty nifty add-on for the iPad 2, no doubt. In fact, it’s so well-thought of and executed that one would think Apple developed the Smart Cover alongside the tablet itself (actually, they did). Unfortunately, Apple’s Smart Cover only covers the screen, leaving the iPad 2’s shiny backside open for inevitable scratches and nicks. Accessory-maker AViiQ just came out with the obvious (but nevertheless perfect) solution: a case that covers the iPad 2’s back side that perfectly compliments Apple’s own Smart Cover.
It’s a pretty simple add-on: the Smart Case covers the iPad 2’s back with an anodized aluminum plate that fits the tablet’s curves perfectly. Holes for all the connections, switches, buttons and camera will allow you to use it normally, and because they somehow knew you’d end up buying a Smart Cover, they also decided to release it in colors that match up perfectly with Apple’s add-on: AViiQ’s line is available in black, silver, blue, green, orange, pink and red to match your Smart Cover’s color (as long as you picked up the cheaper plastic version).
The Smart Case is currently up for pre-orders for $49.99. No word on ship dates yet, but you can sign up on AViiQ’s page to get notified.
