We’re going to have to put this under the “must have” category for iPad owners. This 5-in-1 connection kit for the iPad and iPad 2 combines a lot of ports and slots into a single plug-in accessory for the iPad so you can leave the multiple one-off cables from the Apple Store at home. It packs a lot into a single dongle: the 5-in-1 accessory comes with an AV cable connection, a USB port, a mini USB port, SD card and microSD card reader for connecting anything from flash cards and digital cameras to a laptop or TV for data transfers and video playback.
It does have a few limitations though: you can’t connect to more than one device at the same time, and judging from the product description, it supports iOS 4.1.0, 4.2.1 and 4.3. We’re not sure what happens when Apple comes out with a new iOS version, but a note mentions restoring it to “previous workable firmware,” which could prove to be a hassle.
The 5-in-1 dongle only costs $44.99 (plus $2.99 for shipping), which is way cheaper compared to buying all the official cables from the Apple Store to get the same connectivity. The iPad Camera Connection Kit, Digital AV Adapter and Composite/Component Cable kits on the Store all range from $29 to $39 each.
