The much-rumored HTC Pyramid just turned up in a live photo, giving us a nice, non-rendered view of… well, its rear end. Just the back. Despite the lack of a front-side live shot, it’s pretty significant in a way, since at least we know that this thing actually exists. Anyway, if the rendered photo from an earlier leak says anything, it’ll look pretty similar to just about every other modern touchscreen Android phone from the front anyway. The front part’s going to feature four Android buttons below a big screen, so it’s really not that big of a letdown. (But still… all that trouble and no one came up with a shot of the front? It just bugs us.)
Anyway, the Pyramid is expected to arrive on T-Mobile’s network, featuring a large 4.3-inch screen with a qHD (960 x 540) display, an 8MP snapper with twin LED flash that’s capable of 1080p recording, and a faster 1.2GHz dual core Snapdragon processor. The earlier leak from China also mentioned it running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb, although that part could have simply been lost in translation, since Honeycomb is a tablet OS. It’s believed to instead run on Android “Ice Cream,” which is expected to bring Honeycomb elements to a smartphone OS.
We should learn more pretty soon: the HTC Pyramid is expected to be unveiled at CTIA this week.
