Earlier rumors pegged HP’s webOS 3.0-based TouchPad to be out by late March, but a DigiTimes report is saying that HP’s tablet is going to be moved back to an April launch. HP’s part suppliers didn’t mention the reason for the move, but if it happens, the TouchPad’s on course for a collision with the next iPad that’s also expected out by April.
Potential good move? It really depends on what the market thinks of webOS 3.0 compared to Apple’s iOS. They do share a common denominator though: both the TouchPad and iPad—assuming that the next iPad rocks the same screen as the first one—are fronted by a 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 screen. HP hasn’t released pricing info just yet, but HP did mention that they plan on pricing it “competitively” when they introduced it earlier this month.
If they do decide to release it in a couple of months, here’s what to expect: the HP TouchPad runs on a 1.2GHz dual core Snapdragon processor and Adreno 220 graphics, and features a 1.3MP rear cam , Beats audio tech, 16 or 32GB storage models, Wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and support for Flash and HTML5.
