Dell updates XPS 15, XPS 17 with new design, Intel Sandy Bridge/ Huron River platform   Dell 2011 XPS 17Dell has announced new updates to their XPS line of performance notebooks. The changes involve major internal and external updates for the XPS 15 and XPS 17, giving them a new look as well as a new platform based on Intel’s Huron River motherboards and Sandy Bridge dual and quad-core processors.

Configurations are pretty varied, but the choices are highlighted by 3DTV and 3D Blu-ray support on the XPS 17’s top-end model, and screens with up to 1080p resolutions for both models. The XPS 17 can be fitted with Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, up to 16GBs of RAM, either a 1.2TB hard drive or 256GB SSD for storage, and graphics options that top out with 3GB Nvidia GT555M GeForce graphics.

The XPS 15 comes with Core i7 processor options, up to 8GBs of memory, 750GB HDD/256GB SSD for storage, and either Nvidia’s GeForce GT540M or GT525M for graphics. All new models also feature built-in JBL 2.1 speakers and a 2MP HD webcam.

Prices vary depending on the configuration, but the XPS 15’s price starts at $1,050, while the XPS 17 starts at $900.
