Sony Ericsson Xperia Play seen joining the iPhone on Verizon xperia play

Here’s the latest on Sony Ericsson’s much awaited, Android-powered, PlayStation-certified Xperia Play: apparently, it could be headed to Verizon as a CDMA phone, where very few Sony Ericsson-made devices have landed in the past. That bit of news came from a listing at Wirefly, where’s it’s seen being compared against the iPhone 4. (The page has since been taken down, but you can check out the comparison after the break.) No one knows how they knew where the Xperia Play’s going to land on Verizon, but if it does, Verizon customers are in for a nice selection by the time March rolls around. Would you want an iPhone 4 that can take a phone call, or a 4-inch Android 2.3 phone that lets you play PS games?

Seriously? We’re going to wait for them to roll out the next iPhone later this year (Sudoku is probably the only thing we’ve been playing on our iPhones lately). But if you’d rather have a nice phone that’ll let you do some serious console-style gaming, you won’t have to wait long. The phone is set to be officially unveiled this weekend, and could start shipping as soon as March. [via Phone Arena]
