Today’s shaping up to be a big day for BlackBerry fans. After learning that the first HD video-capable BlackBerry is in the works, another one just turned up: an updated BlackBerry Curve. Codenamed “Apollo,” this one gives the mainstream crowd a new BB Curve that rocks a 5MP cam with a flash (but with no signs of HD video recording support), a 480 x 360 display, and NFC, GPS and Wi-fi connectivity.
It’s not as impressively filled-out like the Dakota, but this one should arrive with a more affordable price for people who just want a solid smartphone. Like the Dakota, it’s also going to run on BlackBerry OS 6.1, but will feature an updated Tavor MG-1 800MHz processor and 512MBs of RAM to handle the new OS features.
Release dates are still unknown, but it’s expected to be out within the first half of 2011. Probably around the same time RIM outs the Dakota. [via Boy Genius Report]
