There’s been a lot of buzz about HTC having a smartphone called the Thunderbolt up their sleeves the past week, but a fresh batch of photos that turned up on Droid Life finally gave us a good first look at HTC’s high-end device before it gets launched at CES. Basically, the Thunderbolt looks pretty similar to the Desire HD, but will be rocking Verizon’s badge and 4G LTE support.
So what else is new? Apart from the 4G network support, the Thunderbolt features a front cam for video chat. A kickstand at the back rocks a “with Google” label flips open to reveal a loudspeaker, so the entertainment part should be pretty darn good.
The specs haven’t been confirmed yet, but the phone is also expected to pack the same 8MP cam and second-gen 1GHz Snapdragon processor as the Desire HD. It’s also expected to ship with Android 2.2 preinstalled with n upgrade to 2.3 to follow. As for the official announcement, it shouldn’t take long before we know what’s up: it’s expected to be unveiled during Verizon’s LTE presser on January 6.
