The Google Nexus S’ file system has been cracked open, only hours after the phone’s official launch. Yup, you heard it right. If you picked up the Gingerbread-running Nexus S with hopes of fiddling around with the file system or the phone’s firmware in the future, the wait is now over before you even realized it’s begun. Android developer clickwordmod has come up with a custom Clockwerk recovery mode, which, along with a Superuser file, will let you install other images that you might not be able to find on the Market, as well as other homebrew apps that you might find handy. Interested? Check out the how-to after the break.
Root and Recovery guide for the Nexus S, from the XDA-Developers forums:
First, reboot into your bootloader/fastboot mode. (Volume + Power Up, or adb reboot bootloader)
