After the instant success of Infinity Blade for iOS, it looks like gaming on the iPhone or iPod touch is finally starting to get interesting for hardcore console gamers. Firemint has released Real Racing 2, which is basically an awesome-looking racing game just like any other, but here’s what makes this a must-buy if you’re into sharing the fun with others: Real Racing 2 features 16-player online multiplayer racing, which makes it all the more fun if you’re tired of going against robotic AI opponents.
Real Racing 2 features 30 officially licensed cars, including the 2010 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 and the Nissan GT-R with different performance specs, 15 locations that’ll let you race through race tracks or city streets in night and daylight conditions. If you’re looking to go it alone, the game offers a career mode with more than 10 hours of gameplay, or a quick race mode if you just want to jump in.
The multiplayer mode’s what sets this game apart though. If you’re net-connected, the game will let you join auto-matched races with up to 15 other players, or with 7 of your buddies for an 8-player race in a local Wi-fi network.
It’s priced at $9.99 on iTunes, which is a little bit steep, but if you can convince your other iOS-owning buddies to download it, it should be well worth the price for the trash-talking alone.
