According to a new report, there’s going to be an “iPad 2” next year. Okay, it’s not like that bit of news is surprising, but it looks like we could get it sooner than the expected April release. DigiTimes reports that Foxconn will start shipping the next-gen iPad within the next 100 days, with an initial shipment numbering somewhere between 400,000 to 600,000 units. So if you’re thinking of shelling out for an iPad this holiday season, you might want to consider that bit of info. If the rumors (and this report) proves to be true, you could probably fork out the same amount of money for a newer, better iPad early next year. Probably one that packs dual cameras for FaceTime, more memory, and a faster processor.
Of course, that’s way too optimistic. If Foxconn ships the batch to Apple by February, it doesn’t mean we get to take ‘em off the shelves within that timeframe. We still expect Apple to release them by April. If you can last four more months without an iPad, waiting for this one definitely wouldn’t hurt.
