This just in: According to a Fox 4 news report, a Droid 2 blew up in a man’s face (okay, technically, it’s his ear) during a phone call. Probably a first for Moto’s Droid line, since this is a pretty rare occurrence considering that millions of phones are used by people with ears every day. But it is pretty notable, nevertheless. Because it did cause some damage—in case you missed it, that’s blood on that cracked screen. Enough for the guy to seek damages from Motorola, which we’re pretty sure Moto won’t mind doing if it turns out that the phone was indeed defective. Video of the news report after the break.
Motorola is reportedly reaching out to the man and will be investigating what happened with the phone. Probably the strangest thing is that despite the clear damage, the phone still works, so it’s probably not a total PR loss for Motorola. Apparently, their Droid 2’s built like a terminator.
