Microsoft’s Kin making a comeback? microsoft kin one kin two

You do remember Microsoft’s Kin phones, right? Maybe you do, maybe you don’t. If you don’t, the Kin was a series of phones that MS launched earlier this year, but was cancelled after spending just 6 weeks on store shelves because of poor sales. A leaked Verizon roadmap could be a sign that they’re going to resurrect the Kin One and Kin Two on Verizon as the ONEm and TWOm.

As far as changes to the plan goes, it looks like they’re going to be offered as feature phones to trim down the pricing by skipping on the $30 plan requirement that came with the original Kins that had people paying a total of $70 per month. Looking back, that probably looked too steep for what the phone offered, since it was marketed as a phone for young adults and teens.

According to the leak, they might drop a few of the original Kin’s features like the Kin Studio online sharing and backup service, but it’ll still support Microsoft’s Zune Music Experience, as well as email, messaging and calendar features. As far as specs go, the more compact Kin ONEm will come with a 5MP cam and 4GBs of storage, while the higher-end Kin TWOm sports an 8MP cam that can handle 720p video and 8GBs of built-in storage.

The document doesn’t show exact release dates, but both phones are expected out on Verizon’s lineup before the end of 2010. [PPCGeeks, via Electronista]
