Remember when everyone thought that the idea of an iPhone with a larger screen called the iPad sounded ridiculous? Well, we all know how that went down. So what happens if you take an iPhone’s screen and giant-size it to the size of a dinner table? You get something that could be totally unwieldy for making calls, but totally awesome for reading the news during Sunday breakfast. Anyway, what you’re looking at is a table that not only looks like an iPhone, it’ll actually work like one. it’s not a hoax—or at least it looks to be legit if you believe the video of it in action (video after the break).
Here are the details: this King Kong-sized iPhone measures 58-inches, supports multi-touch gestures like swiping and pinch zooming (with two hands), and connects to an iPhone via the dock connector. Also, you’re going to need to connect it to a real iPhone for it to work, since it’s not a real working phone, and your iPhone must be jailbroken first, since you’re going to need a dedicated app for the table to work.
Called the Table Connect for iPhone, the project’s still ongoing, so no one knows how much this thing is going to sell for if they actually pull it off and find a way to mass produce them for techie furniture shoppers. We’re pretty sure it won’t cost as much as the world’s most expensive iPhone though. And this is certainly way more awesome than having a diamond-encrusted iPhone. Ridiculous concept. But it’s also ridiculously awesome at the same time. All it needs now is an app developer who can make a touch-based foosball game. [via MacStories]
