Palm Pre 2 now official, comes loaded with webOS 2.0 Palm Pre 2 a

Last week’s leak that showed live images of the Palm Pre 2 was apparently true. HP just officially launched the Palm Pre 2, which is their first smartphone to run webOS 2.0. Just like the photo leak showed, the Palm Pre 2 is a slider that features a 3.1-inch touchscreen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, as well as a 1GHz processor that’ll let it go head-to-head with most of the newer smartphones in the market.

The rest of the hardware’s rounded out by a 5MP cam with LED flash, Wi-fi, GPS and 3G connectivity, as well as a large 16GB internal storage capacity to hold everything in. The webOS 2.0 operating system is highlighted by a new launcher that allows for customized launch pages where you can add favorites, as well as support for a beta version of Flash 10.1. An installation of Quickoffice, which lets you view and edit MS Office documents, will also ship with the phone if you need to get some work done.

While pricing and specific ship dates weren’t given out, it looks like it’s going to ship pretty soon. HP has announced that the Palm Pre 2 will be out in France this week. Verizon will carry the Palm Pre 2 in the US and should be released within “the coming months.”
