Windows Phone 7 wants to save us from our phones. Really.

Microsoft has kicked off a couple of new TV ads that center on the WP7 theme: “It’s time for a phone to save us from our phones.” Don’t think about it too long. That short phrase points out the main feature on the Windows Phone 7 operating system’s interface: the live tiles on the main screen that gives users quick info for unchecked calls, messages, status updates, appointments and other alerts without having to enter an app first. It’s actually a nice, useful touch that lets you check everything with a quick look-through. As for the tagline (and the two resulting ads), it’s also a slight jab at iPhone, Blackberry and other phonemakers for selling you a phone that’s apparently so addictive that you’re missing out on a lot. The second ad (available after the break) called “Really” is a hoot and a half. Made even funnier because it happens. Really.
