News of the Motorola Droid 2 World Edition—a version of the Droid 2 that supports GSM and European 3G networks for use outside of Verizon’s CDMA network in the US—just leaked out, and it looks like network support won’t be the only difference. According to the leak, it’ll have a faster processor, an ARMv7 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz that managed to earn benchmark scores that rates it as the fastest mobile on the market.
The screenshots were all just sent to Droid Life, so details aren’t official yet, but it all looks legit. Aside from the faster CPU, a previous leak also showed the Droid 2 WE painted in a different color scheme with a light silver (or pearl white?) back plate compared to the black or blue rear plate of the existing Droid 2. Everything else looks to be the same though: 3.7-inch screen, 5MP camera, and Moto Blur interface over an Android 2.2 OS. Release dates aren’t known, but it’s expected to replace the regular D2 before the year ends.
