Thanks to a large, 9-inch LCD screen, 100W speakers, multimedia support and DVD drive, it’s more like a compact home entertainment kit than just a “dock.”

The non-touch screen supports DVD playback, serves as the primary menu interface, and can also act as a digital photo frame or show a clock or calendar when idle. Other features include a USB host port, SD card and memory stick slot with support for direct MP3, WMA and AAC playback. The flexibility certainly makes it good as an all-around kit for the home. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’ll be available outside of Japan, where it’ll be launched in October for around $600.
