Remember the Libretto W100, Toshiba’s compact dual-screened tablet that folded like a notebook but didn’t come with a physical keyboard? Well it looks like Acer’s trying to get in on that action in a big way. Like, double-the-size big at 15-inches. According to this leak (the post’s been taken down), they already have a working model with a 15-inch screen as the main display… and another 15 inch screen on the lower half that can show a virtual notebook keyboard, complete with a touchpad surface.
The specs weren’t detailed, except for the fact that it runs on Windows 7 and a 2.66GHz Core i5, but that’s understandable, seeing that it’s obviously a prototype. If it does go into production, it could be due out in late 2011, but that’s a big if. It’s not going to be cheap though: a pair of 15-inch touchscreens are going to push the price up towards “do we really need this?” territory. Also, we’re not quite sure how a large virtual keyboard on a mainstream-sized notebook is going to pan out for people who actually have to do heavy typing.
