We don’t usually get to cover iPhone 4 cases since there must be thousands of them out to cash in on the Antennagate issue, but this one’s different. Called the Mini-key from Hong Kong-based Nuu (and spotted during the IFA show in Berlin), the case adds a slide-out QWERTY keypad that turns your iPhone 4 into… a Droid 2. Or something like it. You get the picture: it adds physical buttons so you don’t have to deal with the virtual keyboard anymore. You can say what you want about the accuracy of today’s touchscreen keyboards, but there’s still something satisfying about the old-school clicks you get from physical buttons. (Also, we’re really slow touchscreen-typers. Certainly a far cry from this guy.)
The keyboard part is equipped with backlighting and, like your regular iPhone 4 bumper, will also fix your deathgrip issues. (As a bonus feature, it’ll hold your phone up so you can watch hands-free videos, although a rock can do that just as well.) It’ll add a little bit of thickness though, and you should expect a faster battery drain since it connects using Bluetooth.
It’s expected out for US$69 by the holidays.
