New details of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab have leaked from China, showing details that make it look like an Android-based iPad clone more than anything. Yeah, we know. It’s certainly not a clone, but you have to agree that it looks like one, right? We already know about the glossy black bezel design that no one really “owns,” but the photos also show it using a very familiar-looking cable/dock connector at the bottom that looks like it could connect to an Apple device (does it have to be white too?) instead of the usual USB cable.
The software interface—at least the ones shown on the photos, like the virtual keyboard—also looks easy to get acquainted with if you’re an iPad-user. Not a bad thing, mind you. The iPad, as you may very well know by now, has been flying off of store shelves for a reason.
The info on the 7-inch Galaxy Tab’s spec has also been updated, revealing a better set of innards than what this earlier leak listed. Thankfully, it won’t just be a stretched Galaxy S. On the contrary, it looks like Galaxy Tab is set up to perform quite nicely, with a wide 1024 x 600-resolution Super AMOLED screen and PowerVR SGX 540 graphics, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-fi n connectivity, and a pair of cameras (3.2MP main, QVGA front) for competing with the iPad.
Details for the Tab’s processor and price weren’t available, but it’s expected to be priced in the same range as the iPad. We’ll know soon enough though: the Galaxy Tab is expected to make a debut at the IFA show next week.
