Animated wallpapers for iOS4 now available for jailbroken devices vWallpaper 150x150Tired of the new (but static) wallpaper feature from iOS4? Here’s another good reason to jailbreak your stock iPhone: a free app called vWallpaper that can pimp your iOS 4-running iPhone or iPod touch with a background wallpaper that moves. There’s a video after the break that you can check out, but the colors are a bit washed out so it’s a bit hard to appreciate the awesomeness in its entirety when it’s running on the iPhone 4’s high-res screen. It’s described as compatible with any iOS 4 device though, so everyone who’s still rocking a 3G or 3GS is still welcome to install it if you don’t mind the possibility of shortened battery times and slower performance.

Getting it is pretty easy if your phone is already jailbroken: open Cydia > Manage > Sources, and add http://i.danstaface.net/deb as a source. After that’s done, hit on the search tab on the bottom, search for “vWallpaper” and install it. The app icon should then show up, where you can start dressing up your iPhone with something colorful. And animated. Absolutely perfect for people who just like staring into their iPhone screens for long stretches.

Check out Redmond Pie’s more detailed step-by-step if you’re a Cydia newbie. For everyone else, just add the source and search for the app. You know the drill.
